What You Should Know About Wheel Alignment

Your vehicle will drive better if all the wheels are pointed in the same direction. That's called wheel alignment. Some symptoms of an improperly aligned vehicle may be pulling of you vehicle to one side or another or a steering wheel that is not centered when driving straight. Another symptom may be premature tire wear, but by then it may be too late to salvage your tires.

Our goal here at Gary’s Automotive in Laurel is help you recognize the symptoms of an alignment problem early and have one of or ASE Certified Technicians perform a two alignment or in some cases a 4 wheel alignment before you need to purchase new tires.

Over time normal wear and tear will affect your front end alignment as well as your rear wheel alignment and if you drive around the Laurel or Beltsville area you are certain to encounter pot holes and rough roads that take their toll on your suspension and ultimately help hasten the need for a wheel alignment.

Something that you won't notice right away, but you will if you keep driving around the Maryland when you're out of alignment, is that your tires are wearing unevenly and fairly quickly. That's because when the vehicle is pulling to one side, you have to steer it back straight. The outside of the tire just wears out fast because you're constantly turning. Fighting the steering wheel to keep your vehicle going straight down the road can be very exhausting on a long road trip.

With an alignment service at Gary's Automotive, we measure each wheel's alignment angle to see where they are relative to factory specifications. While we have the vehicle on the alignment rack, we will inspect the tires for proper wear and check the suspension and steering components for damage or wear as all of these items can contribute to wheel alignment problems.

Some vehicles allow adjustment of all four wheels, if that is true on your vehicle, we will bring all wheels into the manufacturer’s specifications for proper alignment. This known as a 4 wheel alignment. On vehicles that only allow adjustments to the front wheels, we bring the front tires into alignment relative to the rear tires. This is known as a 2 wheel alignment, front wheel alignment or front end alignment.

Gary's Automotive in Laurel, recommends having your alignment checked periodically to ensure the safe and comfortable handling of your vehicle as well as optimal tire wear. No matter what vehicle or model that you drive, from a Mini Van, SUV, Car, Truck, Front Wheel Drive or 4X4 our trained and certified technicians can get your vehicles alignment back to factory specifications.

If it's been a while since you've had your wheels aligned, stop by Gary's Automotive in Laurel MD for an alignment check. A periodic wheel alignment is certainly cheaper than having to replace tires every few months.
