My vehicle just passed inspection in Virginia, D.C. or another state. Do I still need a Maryland State Inspection?
Yes. Every state has different safety standards and some states may check more items than others. In general, most vehicles that have been well maintained can easily meet Maryland state safety standards.
My vehicle did not pass MD state inspection what do I do now?
You have several options: Maryland law allows 30 days or 1,000 miles to complete the repairs, if you complete the repairs in the specified time frame your VIN number will be electronically transmitted to MVA with a certificate of compliance. If you do not complete the repairs in the specified time frame you will need to have a complete new inspection performed.
Is window tint allowed in Maryland?
Yes, but under the following conditions: On trucks, vans & SUV’s, the windows to the rear of the driver may be as dark as you like. Front passenger & driver’s windows on trucks and vans and all glass on passenger vehicles (except windshield) are permitted to have window tint as long as it allows at least 35% light transmittance.
In order for window tint to be approved, Gary’s Automotive will have our state certified inspection mechanic measure your window tint with a specialized meter to determine the percent of light transmittance. If your window tint meets the requirements for Maryland, our state certified inspection mechanic will issue a certificate of compliance for window tint. This certificate should be kept in the vehicle should you need future proof of compliance.
